Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Support Services
Fulfillment by Amazon is a service offered by Amazon to sellers who want Amazon to manage order fulfillment and shipping services. In this scenario, the seller sends bulk inventory into Amazon’s fulfillment network where they will pick, pack, ship orders, handle customer service and manage returns.
The Challenge: Compliance and cost
FBA is a great solution for many sellers, but the inbound compliance standards are extensive, and fees can be very expensive, especially during the Q4 peak season. Amazon also has a reputation for changing FBA requirements without notice causing frustrations as sellers scramble to adapt.
The Solution: FBA Prompt Prep by DM
Selling on Amazon can bring lots of orders – and lots of risk. Missing Amazon’s deadlines and standards can change your business’s opportunities overnight. DM offers reliable FBA Prompt Prep service for expedient prep of your Amazon FBA-dedicated bulk inventory. With a national distribution footprint, we can reach most FBA destinations in as little as 1-2 days. Plus, you get total peace of mind with excellent quality control and unique packaging solutions. Amazon Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM) Fulfillment Services
Amazon Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM) is an order fulfillment method where the Amazon seller (merchant) fulfills orders of their products purchased on Amazon. With FBM, the seller is responsible for inventory storage and placement, order fulfillment, returns, and customer service.
The Challenge: Resource drain
Many Amazon sellers prefer FBM because it gives them greater control over costs, inventory and branding; however, it requires significant investment in resources and a robust infrastructure to manage in-house fulfillment in an efficient yet scalable manner.
The Solution: 3PL with DM
By partnering with DM for 3PL services you get the benefits of working with a highly reliable, experienced fulfillment company while maintaining access to Amazon’s vast customer base. DM’s account services team will collaborate with you to support the success and growth of your brand.
Why partner with a 3PL for Amazon Fulfillment Services
For sellers on Amazon, managing the business relationship and costs associated with it can be overwhelming. A third-party logistics provider can offer expertise in product storage, pick and pack, inventory management and shipping services to streamline Amazon order fulfillment and eliminate the challenges of unpredictable fees.
DM is a mid-tier fulfillment provider. We’re not so big that our customers are just numbers, but we’re big enough to operate multiple state-of-the-art fulfillment centers across the U.S. featuring the latest in automation and robotic technology. Our services and solutions make it easy for brands to manage their marketplace selling strategy, flex with seasonal spikes and ultimately scale their business across multiple channels.
Avoid the Common Pitfalls of Amazon FBA
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) involves Amazon handling the storage of your inventory as well as the order fulfillment, shipping and returns.
High storage fees – Once your inventory is sent to Amazon’s network, it becomes exclusive to their platform and cannot be sold through other channels. If sales decrease or slow down, your inventory may not sell quickly, leading to increasing storage fees over time.
Lack of Seller support – Whether you have an issue to resolve or you’re looking for guidance, Amazon is notorious for being difficult to reach a human for assistance. Doing business with Amazon can often feel like a one-way relationship.
Painful returns process – The returns process could be the difference between a repeat customer and a bad review. Amazon’s return policies are very customer-friendly which is a plus but they aren’t known to be very seller-friendly. When using FBA, Amazon dictates the return policy, the seller has little to no visibility to the process, items are slow to be sent back for resale and the costs can add up quickly.
Avoid the common pitfalls of FBA by choosing Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM) and partnering with an experienced 3PL provider for:
- Predictable storage fees
- The ability to manage inventory across multiple channels
- Account support and a true partnership in growing your business
- Faster, more comprehensive support when issues arise
- Custom returns programs that benefit both you and your customers
DM’s Comprehensive Amazon 3PL Services
Efficient Inventory Management & Forecasting
Every piece of inventory is 100% RF-scanned upon arrival at a DM fulfillment center and throughout the entire process until it leaves with a carrier. Our inventory management team performs cycle counts regularly to confirm accuracy of inventory data, and DM clients have 24/7 visibility to critical, real-time data via an online portal.
Collecting and analyzing data can enhance forecasting accuracy, leading to more efficient inventory management. DM’s Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team collaborates with clients to evaluate KPIs and automate reporting to assist in planning for seasonal fluctuations and promotional activities.
Simplified multichannel selling
Not only are we Amazon fulfillment experts, we’re also integration experts. Our in-house programmers and e-business team make it easy to expand beyond Amazon to support your multichannel selling strategy. Brands can connect with us via existing integrations or work with our team to build custom connections.
Reliable Order Fulfillment & Shipping
DM operates on technology-driven solutions for accurate and efficient order fulfillment beginning with Inbound Deposit Orders. Team members are equipped with wrist mounted terminals, finger scanners and hip mounted printers for quick processing of inbound inventory. Each deposit order is visually inspected, broken down by SKU and marked with an Inventory Control Label (ICL) showing date received, quantity and primary pick location. An alert is generated if there is a discrepancy between the Deposit Order and what is actually received. Within 24-48 hours, new inventory is scanned into its home location and available for fulfillment.
Automation and robotic technology play a crucial role in DM’s exceptional 99.98% pick and pack accuracy rate. To optimize orders, DM’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) runs algorithms to evaluate client inventory and select the best origin and carrier, reducing both freight costs and transit time. Orders flow through a 2-step QC process which includes RF-scanning and weight validation before leaving our facility. Once in the carrier network, orders can be tracked via the DM portal.
